History
Earlier C19 inn, formerly the White Hart Hotel until late C20. A White Hart on The Norton is listed in 1844.

Exterior
Inn, originally two houses in painted roughcast with slate close-eaved roofs and end chimneys. Both 3-storey and of similar width, though left house is of 3 bays and right of only 2. Left building has slightly higher eaves, 3 hornless 12-pane sash windows on second floor, and another to first floor right. First floor left has late C19 oriel window with moulded timber cornice and plate glass sashes. Ground floor has 3 4-pane sash windows. A photograph of c1903 shows that there was an arched door in the place of the centre of the 3 windows. Corner ground floor is chamfered, with door and overlight. Side elevation has sash window to second floor left and ground floor left in gable end and rear wing with left end stack, one second floor left sash, 2 to first floor and 2 plus a door to ground floor. Right range has 2 12-pane sash windows to 2nd floor and to ground floor, and 2 large canted oriel windows to 1st floor with moulded timber cornices and 8-12-8-pane fixed glazing. Ground floor has a door to right. Large C20 door to left spanning party wall replaces narrower door seen in c1903 photograph. Rear elevation is slate-hung.
