Location
Situated on W side of valley running N to Goldborough Pill, approached by footpath of some 200m from lane.
Exterior
Later C19 lime-kiln of exceptional size, square plan with battered sides and broad kiln-eyes with tapered heads carried on cast-iron lintel bars. Kiln-eyes are some 2m wide and 2.1m high, further iron bars within. Each kiln-eye has two downward pointing iron pintles to each side.
Crucible is broad and lined with engineering brick headers up to set-back rubble stone rim. Rubble stone outer parapet. Earth embankment against W side.
Reason for designation
A large and unusual example of rural lime-kiln construction.
