History
C14 preaching cross with lantern restored in 1918 by W D Caroe who earlier carried out the restoration of the church. The lantern includes a depiction of Archbishop Baldwin of Canterbury, who is said to have preached the 3rd Crusade from here in 1188.
Exterior
On a square stepped plinth and with a square base which turns octagonal with broaches. The tapering octagonal shaft also turns square at the base with broaches. The lantern has figures in niches of Virgin and Child, a Rood, St Issui and Archbishop Baldwin.
Reason for designation
Listed Grade II* for its special historic interest as a substantial survival of a medieval preaching cross.
