Location
At the south side of the A458 about 30m west of Dyffryn Restaurant.
History
A milestone probably set up at the start of the Mallwyd to Welshpool turnpike established under the
Montgomeryshire Turnpikes Act of 1769.
Exterior
A slate milestone about 0.6 m high, with splayed top corners. It indicates ''Machynlleth / 20 miles /
Mallwyd 8½ / Canoffice 3½ / Pool 18''. Moved and reset in concrete.
Reason for designation
A milestone of the turnpike era on an important cross-Wales route.
