Location
On the Pontsarn to Vaynor road just W of the Pontsarn railway viaduct.
History
Built c1866 to take parish road over the Brecon and Merthyr Railway. Pontsarn station was immediately to W and Pontsarn viaduct just to E.
Exterior
Road bridge on slight skew, rock-faced grey stone abutments and single elliptical arch of 7.9m span with stone voussoirs between battered piers. Parapets supported on string course of large stones with raised band above parapets stepped forward over piers. Rock-faced stone coping. Roadway some 6m wide with no footpath. Soffit in even-sized stones laid in parallel courses.
Reason for designation
Included as a good example of later C19 road bridge building on the Brecon and Merthyr Railway. Group value with Pontsarn Viaduct.
