Pen-Pistyll, including attached farm range
Location
Approximately 1km W of St Harmon, reached by farm track on the N side of a minor road between St Harmon and Pont Marteg.
History
A late C17 house. The L side was rebuilt c1800. The house is shown on the 1839 Tithe map.
Exterior
A 1½-storey house of whitened rubble stone, slate roof, stone stack to the L and brick stack to the R. Openings are under wooden lintels and comprise a central half-glazed door and flanking early C20 small-pane windows. Three small gabled dormers have 2-light windows. Further R is an open-fronted cart house and granary under a corrugated-iron roof. The granary has a weatherboarded front with small opening, and rubble-stone gable end.
Interior
Not inspected but RCAHM Wales survey recorded a central dog-leg stair, and hall with ogee stops.
Reason for designation
Listed for its special architectural interest as a C17 house retaining definite quality and character.
