History
A water supply of probably ancient origin but built in its present form in the C19. The walling shows signs of having been built at more than one date, some in the late C20. The pond appears in circular form on the tithe map of 1840.
Exterior
Circular pond surrounded by rough limestone walling which rises up on the west side and has a flight of five steps to the platform at the rear. The walling has a coping of roughly shaped stones. Some of the walling, particularly on the street side, is rebuilt.
Reason for designation
Included as a major relic of the historic water supply of Llantwit Major.
