History
Farmhouse, late C18 or early C19 with attached outbuildings surrounding a small three-sided courtyard, raised on a terrace. Cobbled pavement in front of house. The E range was a small lofted cow-shed. The W range was a barn and lofted stable. The farm is marked on the 1842 Tithe map as part of the Penpont estate, occupied by Thomas Williams, with 135 acres (54.7hectares). The right side range of the yard does not appear to be marked.

Exterior
Farmhouse, colourwashed rubble stone with imitation slates to roof, big painted stone left end stack and smaller stack on ridge towards right. Two storeys, long front of four plus one bays. Four-bay main part has four square upper windows, the third one blank, the others with 4-pane windows. Blank one is over colourwashed stone gabled porch with stone voussoirs to arched entry. Cambered-headed doorway within with alternately-textured stone voussoirs, plank door with iron hinges. Stone flags. Sixteen-pane window to left, 12-pane to right. Under first floor left window is a flight of stone outside steps to a loft door in the outbuilding on W side of the yard. Hopper windows, stone sills. Right bay has 9-pane cambered-headed window above, and a broad cambered arch below aligned slightly further left, with stone voussoirs, a half-glazed door with 4-pane sidelight to right. Right side of yard has one bay link with cambered-headed half-glazed door, to lofted C19 outbuilding with eaves roof, centre 9-pane loft window over boarded centre door; half-glazed door to left and right. Stone voussoirs to doors. Left side of yard has whitewashed rubble larger range with lofted stable to right and barn to left. Stable has two cambered-headed doors to left of outside stairs, in angle to house, up to gable loft door. Square loft light centrally over the two doors. Main part is barn with loop each side of broad cambered arched high entry. Tooled stone voussoirs, big double doors. End wall has one loop above another, above a big cambered arched cart-entry at basement level, as farmyard is raised on a terrace.

Interior
Interior not inspected, plan is said to have had a dairy between two heated rooms. Barn has collar-trusses on wall-posts down to heavy beams.

Reason for designation
Included for its special interest as a particularly well-grouped regional farm around a three-sided yard.
