Situated in the churchyard in Llanspyddid village on S side of A40.

History
Sarcophagus type ashlar tomb said to be to John Church Pearce of Ffrwdgrech, died 1856, and by the Brecon born sculptor John Evan Thomas (1810-73). Visible S side inscriptions to Mary Church Pearce died 1868 and Lt Col W. Pearce died 1871. The memorial is heavily overgrown (2005).
Exterior
Sarcophagus type tomb carved with coat-of-arms? at each end (obscured by overgrowth) and reversed torches flanking inscription panels. Ridged top. Free-standing on raised stone blocks each end, set on an ashlar stepped plinth. Large rectangular railed tomb enclosure with lance-type railings and similar but larger stanchions, on rusticated stone plinth.
Reason for designation
Included for its special historic interest as a well-designed sarcophagus tomb by the eminent C19 Welsh sculptor.
