History
Perhaps later than the other, 1840s, buildings in the Barracks.
Exterior
Two-storey building in grey stone; slate roof. Upper storey in ashlar, lower rubble with ashlar dressings; to sides lower floor in larger rusticated stone, smaller courses above. To parade ground, a 2-storey verandah, in ashlar with flat roof, and Tuscan piers; 7 bays; iron railings to upper level. Irregular fenestration behind; 9-pane windows; ground floor doors with overlights; first floor doors without. To rear facing the Watton, 6 first floor windows as front; the second bay is blind.
Reason for designation
Part of a fine and rare C19 Barracks complex, retaining its character. Group Value with other listed buildings on the site.
