History
Early/mid C19 terrace, probably c1830, with varying degrees of alteration. It is shown on Wood's map of 1834.
Exterior
Belongs to a group of 4:
Nos. 2-8 (even) Merthyr Road
Roughcast rendered, with a natural slate roof. Double depth plan, with the entries on the outside of the end houses and paired in the centre. Three storeys, eight windows to whole terrace, although each house has only one on the ground floor. All doors are 6-panel in light architraves with small pediments supported on console brackets. Windows are an 8 over 8 pane sash on the ground floor, 6 over 6 pane on the first floor and 3 over 6 on the top floor. No. 2 has a 2 over 2 pane sash on the ground floor; No. 4 has all 2 over 2 pane sashes; No. 6 has windows all complete; No. 8 has late C20 hardwood casements except for the top floor. Hipped roof over whole terrace with shared brick stacks on the walls between Nos. 2 & 4 and 6 & 8. Retains the probably original low spiked railings and gates along the whole terrace frontage.

Included for its special interest as part of a well-preserved group of substantial early C19 terraced housing close to the junction with Brecon Road.
