History
Built c1925 as part of the development Tre-Elidyr designed by Alfred Powell. It was built as a memorial to WWI and to the son of Lord Treowen and others of the village who died in the conflict. The building is externally unaltered.  

Exterior
Built of roughly squared rock faced local red sandstone rubble with natural slate roofs to the house and stone slate to the extension. Plain Arts-and-Crafts manner. Single storey and attic L-shaped plan cottage with a small service wing to left. The main elevation faces the service road round the Memorial Green and is the inside angle of the L. Short wings to either side with a 2-light casement on the left and the entrance door and a second window on the right. Small weatherboarded end hipped service wing attached to left, this contains WC and coal house. Right gable has a large external stack and a 2-light casement in the attic floor. Steep mansard roof with gambrel ends. Rear elevation not seen.

Reason for designation
Included for its special interest as being a part of a planned War Memorial housing development around a green, which was designed by Alfred Powell and remains almost unaltered in detail.
