History
Dated 1838 on a repainted tablet, but remodelled in the late C19 or early C20.

Exterior
A 2-storey house and former shop of whitened pebble-dashed walls with black smooth-rendered plinth, pilasters, quoins, architraves and 1st-floor sill band. The slate roof has end brick stacks, terracotta ridge tiles and finials, and 2 rear skylights. In the ground floor are rusticated angle pilasters. On the R side is a 2-light shop window with replacement glazed bars to margin-glazing over transoms, and splayed at the R end to a half-glazed fielded-panel shop door and overlight. Immediately L of the shop window is a half-glazed fielded-panel house door under an overlight. House door and shop front are framed by reed-moulded pilasters, under a blank fascia with a dentil cornice. Further L is a pair of replacement narrow windows. In the 1st floor are gabled windows R and L, each with a pair of round-headed 2-pane sashes with key blocks below imitation timber framing and ridge tiles with moulded finial. In the centre is a raised smooth-rendered tablet with repainted sign with name and date. The rear has a lower wing on the R-hand side, and replacement windows in earlier openings.

Interior

Reason for designation
Listed for its special interest as a late C19 commercial and residential building forming a group with No 6, and for its contribution to the overall historical townscape.
