Location
Standing as a pair with a telephone call-box immediately outside NatWest Bank.
History
A pillar box of the type introduced by the GPO in 1904, cast by McDowall Steven & Co of Glasgow. It is shown on the 1913 Ordnance Survey.
Exterior
A cylindrical cast-iron pillar box painted red, on a black base with founder's name in raised letters. The hinged door bears the royal cipher of Edward VII and incorporates a horizontal posting aperture. The box has a projecting shallow domed cap with fluted cornice.
Reason for designation
Listed as an early letter box that is a prominent feature within the townscape
