The following provides a general description of the Ancient Monument. The monument comprises a pair of standing stones that probably date to the Bronze Age (c. 2300 - 800 BC). They are located in semi-improved and enclosed rough grazing and situated on a low terrace on a gentle SW-facing slope. There are uninterrupted views of Barmouth Bay to the W. The stones are aligned NE-SW and spaced c. 8m apart. The SW stone measures 1.67m tall, 1.3m NE-SW and 0.8m NW-SE. The stone rises to a blunt, rounded point. Packing stones are visible around the base. The NE stone measures 1m tall, 1.1m NE-SW and 0.7m NW-SE. The stone rises to a sharp point. The stones have a weathered appearance and are earthfast. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric ritual practices. The monument retains significant archaeological potential with a strong probability of associated archaeological features and deposits. It forms an important element in the wider prehistoric funerary and ritual landscape. The area scheduled comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive. It is circular and measures 20m in diameter.
