The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument. The monument comprises the remains of two burial cairns, which probably date to the Bronze Age (c. 2300 - 800 BC) and are located on the summit of Moel Fodiar with extensive views, particularly to the west. The cairns measure 14m wide and up to 0.8m high and have been constructed from a combination of stones and mounded earth. A slight hole in the centre of one (Cairn B) marks a small excavation which took place there at the start of the 20th century. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric burial and ritual practices. The features are an important relic of a prehistoric funerary and ritual landscape and retain significant archaeological potential. There is a strong probability of the presence of both intact ritual and burial deposits, together with environmental and structural evidence. The importance of these cairns is further enhanced by their group value. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive. It is two circles measuring 18m in diameter, centred on the two cairns.
