The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument. The monument comprises the well-preserved remains of a small enclosed round hut settlement, which probably dates to the later prehistoric Iron Age or Romano-British period (c.800 BC - AD 400). The site consists of the earth and rubble banked foundations of a group of three round huts joined by an enclosing bank. The huts are of similar dimensions, approximately 7-8m internal diameter. The settlement lies within enclosed and improved pasture on an east-facing gentle slope to the SE of Penbodlas and overlooks the confluence of the Nant Bodlas and Nant Saethon with the Afon Horon. The monument is significant because of its good state of preservation in a lowland area of agricultural improvement. It is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric settlement practices. It is an important relic of the prehistoric landscape and retains significant archaeological potential. There is a strong probability of the presence of environmental and structural evidence, including preserved internal and external floor levels. The importance of the site is further enhanced by the presence of other potentially contemporary (but less well preserved) sites within the area. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
