The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument. The monument comprises the remains of a visually impressive and well preserved enclosed hut-group settlement, which probably dates to the Iron Age or Romano-British period (c.800 BC - AD 400). It lies NE of Clogwyn Bach, on level ground between rock outcrops to the N and S. The site consists of three hut circles, two rectangular huts and their associated yards set within a stone walled enclosure. Also present within the scheduled area is an adjoining field system which is probably contemporary with the settlement. The site appears to present evidence for changes and alterations suggesting that it was occupied over an extensive period of time. The monument contains a wide range of surviving structural features and is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric settlement practices. It is an important relic of the prehistoric landscape and retains significant archaeological potential. There is a strong probability of the presence of environmental and structural evidence, including preserved internal and external floor levels. The site also appears to present evidence for changes and alterations suggesting that it was occupied over an extensive chronological period. This, combined with the presence of an early field system enhances the archaeological potential of the site. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
