The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument. Glasffrwd well comprises an irregularly shaped slate lined trench c. 4m x 1.5m and 1m deep which is approached down three simple steps. The base of the trench is paved with slates and contains a rectangular cistern supplied with water from a wooden pipe which runs through an underground channel. Water is then returned to the Afon Glasffrwd via a narrow channel. Structurally intact and with a surviving wooden supply pipe it appears to have changed little in recent times. The well has importance because of its good state of preservation. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of water management systems. It retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of associated archaeological features and deposits, including preserved waterlogged organic deposits. The structure itself may be expected to contain archaeological information concerning chronology and building techniques. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
