The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument. The monument comprises the remains of two small rectangular buildings, both surviving as low stone foundations and a large banked stock enclosure. The larger of the two buildings comprises a main unit, apparently sub-divided into two rooms with an additional appended room on its northern side. The second building is of a simpler form, and may have been an ancillary building. All the structures making up this compact settlement appear to be inter-connected and are in a good general state of preservation. Although undated, medieval sources refer to a settlement being at Blaen Cothi and the form of these buildings would appear to fit well with such a date. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of medieval settlement. The monument forms an important element within the wider medieval context and the scheduled area may be expected to contain a wide range of archaeological information, including chronological detail and evidence in regard to construction techniques and agricultural methods. Rectangular huts may be part of a larger cluster of settlements and their importance can be further enhanced by their group value. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
