The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Ancient Monument. The monument comprises a group of burial cairns, probably dating to the Bronze Age (c.2300 BC - 800 BC) and situated within rough grazing on the W-facing slopes to the E of the S end of Lake Vyrnwy. There are three burial cairns on the ridge. The cairns are described individually in turn from N to S and have been inventoried as Croes y Forwyn cairns A - C. The cairns are largely circular on plan and measure between 6.5m and 8.5m in diameter and up to 0.6m in height. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric burial and ritual. The monument is an important relic of a prehistoric funerary and ritual landscape and retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability the presence of both intact burial or ritual deposits and environmental and structural evidence, including a buried prehistoric land surface. The scheduled areas comprise the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive. Area A (SJ 0266 2067) is circular and measures 18m in diameter. Area B (SJ 0284 2053) is circular and measures 15m in diameter. Area C (SJ 0272 1984) is circular and measures 18m in diameter.
