The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Ancient Monument. The monument comprises the remains of a round platform cairn, probably dating to the Bronze Age (c.2300 BC - 800 BC) and is located on the crest of a hill. The cairn is visible as a stony mound measuring 20m in diameter and 0.6m high. There is a slight circular bank on top of the cairn measuring 1.5m wide and forming a ring 11m in diameter, which may represent a prehistoric feature or part of a later cock fighting ring. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric burial and ritual. The monument is an important relic of a prehistoric funerary and ritual landscape and retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability the presence of both intact burial or ritual deposits and environmental and structural evidence, including a buried prehistoric land surface. Platform cairns may be part of a larger cluster of monuments and their importance can further enhanced by their group value. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive. It is circular and measures 28m in diameter, centred on the cairn.
