The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument. A prehistoric enclosed hut group of 2 round huts lying in an irregular enclosure. A possible third hut lies against the enclosing wall S of the entrance. The monument is only a part of extensive early remains comprising other hut groups, enclosures and cairns. The enclosing wall is 1.8m wide with orthostatic facing stones and rubble centre. The enclosure is approximately 30m in diameter and has an entrance, facing NW, 2.5m wide. The two central huts lie adjacent to one another. Both have inner and outer facing stones with a rubble centre, and both have NW facing entrances. The N hut is 6.5m in diameter, the other 7.0m. What appears to be a stone and earth bank runs from the entrance of the N hut to the enclosure wall. With the exception of this wall, the huts are free-standing within the enclosure. The third hut is built into the enclosure wall just S of the entrance. It is much ruined. Field boundaries run off to the N and SW from the enclosure. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric settlement. It retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of associated archaeological features and deposits. The structures themselves may be expected to contain archaeological information concerning chronology and building techniques. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
