The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument. The monument comprises the remains of a slight earthwork enclosure of uncertain date. It is broadly polygonal in outline, measuring c.80m east-west by c.60m, as estimated from air photographs on which it shows best. The western portion is visible on the ground as a bank c.0.3m high, but the eastern part is very difficult to see, and has clearly been overlaid by rig-and-furrow cultivation, which is likely to be of medieval date. Traces of what appears to be an internal structure on the west may not necessarily be related to the enclosure. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of defensive organisation and settlement. The site forms an important element within the wider landscape context, and lies only c.100m north of the much more substantial and probably later prehistoric enclosure of Caer Du (Scheduled Monument RD030). The site is well preserved and retains considerable archaeological potential. There is a strong probability of the presence of evidence relating to chronology, building techniques and functional detail. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
