The monument comprises the remains of a defended enclosure or hillfort, probably dating to the Iron Age (c. 800 BC - AD 74, the Roman conquest of Wales). The enclosure forms an oval, enclosing a level platform c.76m south-west to north-east by c.76m. It is multivallate to the north with three scarped slopes 2.6m high, but with only one scarped slope visible in the south. The western defences appear to be formed from a very steep natural slope, whilst to the east, historical cultivation has removed almost all visible traces of the monument. The entrance probably lay in this eastern area. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of later prehistoric defensive organisation and settlement. The site forms an important element within the wider later prehistoric context and within the surrounding landscape. The site is well preserved and retains considerable archaeological potential. There is a strong probability of the presence of evidence relating to chronology, building techniques and functional detail. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive. It is sub-oval in shape and extends c.167m NE-SW and c.101m NW-SE.
