Summary Description and Reason for Designation
The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Ancient Monument.
A fairly complete circle of ten stones of various sizes, about 22m in diameter, with a gap of 12m on the N side and of 11m on the E side. Some of the stones are partially covered with grass, but can easily be traced; their average distance apart is 6.5m
The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric ritual. It retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of associated archaeological features and deposits. The structures themselves may be expected to contain archaeological information concerning chronology and building techniques.
The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
