Summary Description and Reason for Designation
The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument.
The monument consists of a stone with a cross carved into the surface, probably dating to the medieval period. Part of the cross is missing, where it has been cut. The cross has expanded terminals and measures 0.45m in length. The engraved face is 1.38m long and 0.36m wide.
The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of the organisation and practice of medieval Christianity. The stone has been moved from its original location to the sheltered protection of Bardsey Island Chapel.
The scheduled area comprises the remains described.
