The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument. The monument comprises the remains of an enclosed settlement of multiple hut circles, which probably dates from the Iron Age or Romano-British period (c.800 BC - AD 400). It lies on a level shelf on an uneven, rocky, hill-side just above a fairly steep drop into the valley which carries the main road from Trawsfynydd to Dolgellau, a short distance north of Pont Dolgyfeiliau. The site consists of three huts in a NW to SE line probably forming one side of a rectangular courtyard, and part of a fourth attached to the N side of the south-easternmost hut. A considerable quantity of stone has been piled onto the site since its abandonment, making the plan difficult to interpret. The huts appear to be angular rather than round, with walls of piled stones up to 1m high and 1.5m wide. The internal measurements of the three main huts from SE-NW are 9m, 6m and 5m. Sixteen metres SE of the huts is another structure, probably a large hut-circle, with walls 1m high and 2.5m wide. It is now 7m square internally. Traces of terraced fields lie all around the site. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric settlement practices. It is an important relic of the prehistoric landscape and retains significant archaeological potential. There is a strong probability of the presence of environmental and structural evidence, including preserved internal and external floor levels. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
