The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument. The monument, an enclosed hut group, comprises the remains of four circular huts linked by an enclosing wall and a larger rectangular structure. It lies on a moderate SE-facing slope below a rocky hillside which rises more steeply towards Moel Goedog fort to the NW. It was probably occupied during the Iron Age and Romano-British periods, although it may have been in use for longer. The largest round hut, to the NE, measures about 7.3m in internal diameter, and is built with large stones on the inner and outer faces, most noticeably on the SE side. The NW side has been cut into the hillside and the entrance opens into a yard area on the SW. A second hut, similarly scarped into the hillside, lies on the SW side of the yard and measures about 6m across, but has been cut by the track which crosses the monument. The two other huts, on the SE of the yard, can still be identified, but again the track has caused disturbance. On the upper side of the yard, cut into the slope, is a substantial rectangular structure measuring over 11m by 4.6m. This is joined onto the largest circular hut. A D-shaped paddock adjoins the site to the S, and a setting of 5 upright stones running S from the SW hut may indicate further field walls. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric settlement. It retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of associated archaeological features and deposits. The structures themselves may be expected to contain archaeological information concerning chronology and building techniques. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
