The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Ancient Monument. The monument comprises the remains of a prehistoric round barrow pair, probably dating to the Bronze Age (c. 2300 BC - 800 BC). The barrows are situated on the flattened top of the western summit of Plumstone Mountain. Barrow 'A' is circular in shape on plan, measuring c. 30m in diameter. It has a tall rounded profile, c. 2m in height. Barrow 'B' which is located c. 50m WNW of PE153A is circular in shape on plan, measuring c. 25m in diameter. It has low rounded profile, measuring c. 0.4m in height. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric burial and ritual practices. The features are important relics of a prehistoric funerary and ritual landscape and retain significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of both intact burial or ritual deposits, together with environmental and structural evidence. The importance of the monument is further enhanced by the group value formed by the association between the barrow pair components and also by their relationship with adjacent barrows to the east. The area scheduled comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive. Area 'A' is centred on Item 'A' (NGR SM 91288 23457). It is circular and measures 33m in diameter. Area 'B' is centred on Item 'B' (NGR SM 91233 23470). It is circular and measures 30m in diameter.
