The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Ancient Monument. The monument comprises the remains of three round barrows, burial mounds probably dating to the Bronze Age (c.2300 BC - 800 BC), and situated on the summit and eastern slopes of Vivod Mountain. Barrow A is located on the summit of the mountain, and stands up to 1.5m high. Barrow B stands c.1m high and has a diameter of 20m. It is situated on a low saddle at the head of two streams, to the east-north-east of Barrow A. Barrow C is situated in sloping pasture to the east-north-east of Barrow B. It stands c.1.2m high and has a diameter of c.15m. The monuments are of national importance for their potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric burial and ritual practices. The well-preserved monuments are an important relic of a prehistoric funerary and ritual landscape and retain significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of both intact burial or ritual deposits and environmental and structural evidence, including buried prehistoric land surfaces. The area scheduled comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
