Summary Description and Reason for Designation
The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Ancient Monument.
This site consists of a group of small fields with hut circles in some of the corners. The field walls consisting either of c. 1 m wide strips of stone half buried in turf, or single lines of stone; the hut circles tend to be defined by the field walls with the rest of the circumference missing. Several are levelled slightly and show up as platforms.
The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of Prehistoric settlement and defence. It retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of associated archaeological features and deposits. The structures themselves may be expected to contain archaeological information concerning chronology and building techniques.
The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
