The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Ancient Monument. The monument consists of two stones each with a cross carved into their surface, probably dating to the medieval period. The first of the stones has been placed in the garden of a private dwelling and is rectangular in shape it is 1m in height, 0.3m in width and 0.2m in depth, carved on its surface is an incised wheel headed cross which has a second pair of arms below the first also enclosed within a wheel. The second stone has been re-erected in a nearby field and is trapezoidal in shape, tapering towards the top it is 1m in height and at its base is 0.5m wide and 0.3m in depth. The face of this stone has been inscribed with a tall wheel headed cross. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of the organisation and practice of medieval Christianity. A cross marked stone may be part of a larger cluster of monuments and their importance can further enhanced by their group value. The scheduled area comprises the remains described.
