The following provides a general description of the scheduled ancient monument. The monument comprises the remains of a stone circle and a standing stone, which probably date to the Bronze Age (c. 2300 - 800 BC). Penbedw Park Stone Circle describes the remains of stone circle consisting of five stones varying from 1.55m to 0.45 m high, and being an average of 9.14m apart, but irregularly spaced. The circle is now completed by oak trees (of varying age), supposedly on the approximate sites of the missing stones. The circle is not mentioned before the eighteenth century and there is therefore speculation regarding its authenticity. The standing stone measures c. 1.6m high, x 1.6m NW-SE x 1.24 NE-SW, and stands on the side of the old drive. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric burial and ritual practices. The features are an important relic of a prehistoric funerary and ritual landscape and retain significant archaeological potential. There is a strong probability of the presence of both intact ritual and burial deposits, together with environmental and structural evidence. Stone circles are often part of a larger cluster of monuments and their importance can further enhanced by their group value. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
