The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument. A complex of copper mining and processing installations, well documented from the 18th century onwards. The complex includes foundations for crushing machines, the ruins of buildings, a level and a water tower directing water to a water wheel via an aperture in the base of the tower. The large wheel-pit of this water wheel survives, as does a high masonry wall protecting the wheel from the wind. The surviving yards on the centre of the site (the easternmost mill buildings) have been disturbed and partly rebuilt for use as sheep pens. An area adjacent to these on the W has been cleared for the construction of new sheep pens. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of the copper mining industry. It retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of associated archaeological features and deposits. The structures themselves may be expected to contain archaeological information concerning chronology and building techniques. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
