The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument. The monument is part of a relatively well-preserved multi-period complex of settlement and paddocks dating from the later prehistoric period through to recent centuries. It lies on a gentle south-facing slope just north of a small stream in an area of poorly drained stony upland pasture. The site includes a scattered group of small hut circles and a small enclosure or paddock representing a settlement of Iron Age or Romano-British date (c.800 BC - AD 400). Overlying these are remains of later activity, probably dating from the medieval period. The remains are situated near to other broadly contemporary monuments, such as the hill fort at Pen y Dinas (ME076). The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric settlement practices. It is an important relic of the prehistoric landscape and retains significant archaeological potential. There is a strong probability of the presence of environmental and structural evidence, including preserved internal and external floor levels. The monument is of a less-common type of settlement and the evidence of continuity adds to the archaeological value. The proximity to broadly contemporary monuments enhances its importance due to group value. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
